European Coordinator for the North Sea-Baltic TEN-T Corridor Meets with Rail Baltica management

On June 8, 2023, Mme Catherine Trautmann, the European Coordinator for the North Sea-Baltic TEN-T Corridor, undertook a working visit to Riga to discuss the progress of the Rail Baltica project implementation in Latvia and the development of passenger and freight rail transport in the country.

The board members of Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS were delighted to engage in discussions with Mme Trautmann regarding the advancement of the Rail Baltica delivery program and design.

“I was pleased to see the collaboration among the Rail Baltica partners, who are united in steering the project through the construction phase and ensuring its timely completion,” said Mme Catherine Trautmann.

Mme Trautmann also held meetings with Minister of Transport Jānis Vitenbergs and the ministry’s leadership, Kaspars Vingris, the chairman of the board of SIA “Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas”, Rail Baltica national implementing body in Latvia. Additionally, the EC coordinator visited VAS “Latvijas dzelzceļš,” where she met with Rinalds Pļavnieks, the chairman of the company’s board, and Rodžers Jānis Grigulis, the chairman of the board of AS “Pasažieru vilciens” to discuss the latest developments regarding the “Amber Train” project in the freight transportation sector, as well as the new electric train project.

The working visit concluded with a meeting with the Speaker of the Saeima, Edvards Smiltēns.
