Rail Baltica Forum on European Connectivity, Security, and Cooperation

On 22 January 2026, the Rail Baltica Forum on European Connectivity, Security, and Cooperation will take place in Madrid, Spain, continuing the series of high-level Rail Baltica seminars launched last year. The forum marks the first Rail Baltica high-level event of 2026 and highlights Spain’s important role in advancing Europe’s cross-border transport connectivity.

Organised by Rail Baltica together with ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, MAFEX, and the Embassies of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania in Spain, the forum will convene senior policymakers, representatives of European institutions, members of the diplomatic and defence communities, rail infrastructure managers, operators, and industry leaders.

The programme will open with remarks from senior government representatives, including Spain’s Secretary of State for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, José Antonio Santano; Lithuania’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Juras Taminskas; Estonia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Kuldar Leis; and Ģirts Dubkēvičs, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia. A video address by Catherine Trautmann, European Coordinator for the North Sea–Baltic TEN-T Corridor, will set the European perspective. Subsequent sessions will focus on policy and institutional priorities, examining the development and financing of interoperable cross-border rail corridors, strategic mobility, and the resilience of Europe’s transport system.

A dedicated business-focused segment will place Rail Baltica in the spotlight, highlighting Spanish industry’s engagement in the project and future opportunities across infrastructure, technology, rolling stock, logistics, and services. Senior management from the Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS and the national implementing bodies – Rail Baltic Estonia, Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, and LTG Infra will present the latest updates on project progress, strategic priorities, and next steps.

Spain has been a committed partner in Rail Baltica from the project’s early stages, with Spanish companies contributing expertise and innovation across key areas of delivery.

“Spanish companies bring internationally recognised experience in rail infrastructure, engineering, and operations. Hosting this forum in Madrid provides a timely opportunity to deepen cooperation on a project that is European in scope and collective in its delivery,” said Marko Kivila, Chief Executive Officer of RB Rail AS.

The Madrid forum will provide a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Spanish partners and to discuss how Rail Baltica contributes both to Europe’s strategic connectivity and to concrete business opportunities for industry.
