Rail Baltica family day in Latvia brings together project teams and families

On 31 October, colleagues from RB Rail AS and Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas (EDZL) brought their families to the construction site of the future Riga Central Hub for the first Rail Baltica Family Day in Latvia. The event was all about exploration and curiosity, giving children and families a closer look at how the new railway is being built and why it matters for the region’s future.

Before setting off on the site tour, families gathered to learn more about the Rail Baltica project and see how much progress has already been made. A new drone video of the Riga Central Hub offered a bird’s-eye view of the impressive works underway. Wearing bright vests and helmets, participants then joined a guided walk through the multimodal zone, new platforms, and the future waiting hall on the third floor, seeing up close where trains will one day arrive and passengers will connect across Europe.

The children were especially enthusiastic. Many saw for the first time where their parents spend their days working and contributing to a project that will transform how people travel and connect. Their curiosity shone through during a fun Rail Baltica quiz, where they eagerly answered questions and showed how much they already know about the railway.

Around 120 participants took part in the event, including many young visitors excited to discover more about Rail Baltica. The day was filled with curiosity, laughter, and pride in being part of something that will serve future generations.

The Family Day in Latvia is just the beginning. Similar events will take place in Estonia and Lithuania, giving even more families a chance to experience the Rail Baltica story together and see the future of the region’s railway take shape.
