Recently, Riga welcomed Jean-Noël Barrot, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, for a working visit at the invitation of Latvia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže.
The visit included a flower-laying ceremony at the Freedom Monument, an official reception at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a joint press conference addressing current international developments. Discussions focused on support for Ukraine, EU and NATO cooperation, transatlantic relations, and regional security.
As part of the programme, Minister Barrot met with the management of RB Rail, including Emilien Dang, Chief Technical Officer and Member of the Management Board. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional connectivity and the progress of the Rail Baltica project, underlining its strategic importance for Europe.
The visit took place during the 105th anniversary of Latvia’s international recognition and also included a joint meeting with the foreign ministers of the other Baltic states.
We would like to thank the Embassy of France in Rīga for the excellent organisation of the visit.
