RB Rail AS announces the appointment of Matīss Paegle as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, following the completion of Arenijus Jackus’s term.

Matīss Paegle brings extensive international experience in corporate finance, infrastructure investment, and energy transition. He has more than 28 years of experience in corporate finance and 14 years in private equity, with a strong track record in developing and financing large-scale infrastructure projects across Europe. His professional background includes close cooperation with major European institutional investors and financial institutions, including the European Investment Bank (EIB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), and Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB).

Mr Paegle currently serves as Fund Partner at BaltCap Infrastructure Fund, managing investments in renewable energy and energy transition assets. He also holds supervisory board roles in several organisations, including the EU Mission “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030”, focused on mobilising large-scale investment for sustainable urban development.

Matīss Paegle, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of RB Rail AS said: “Rail Baltica is one of the most important strategic infrastructure projects for the Baltic States – economically, socially, and from a security perspective. It is also a project that requires honesty, discipline, and a strong focus on delivery. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board, my priority is to support clear governance, financial responsibility, and effective cooperation across borders and particularly in Latvia, so that the project can move forward faster. As a Latvian, this is not just a professional responsibility for me, but a personal one – Rail Baltica is an investment in our region’s future.”

The Supervisory Board of RB Rail AS consists of six members, each appointed for a three-year term, with two representatives nominated by each shareholder country. All appointments are approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders.
