Rail Baltica joint venture representatives address project progress at Baltic Assembly Session

On Friday, 14 November 2025, parliamentarians from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania convened in Riga for the 44th session of the Baltic Assembly to set the region’s cooperation priorities for 2026, focusing on security, connectivity and innovation-based competitiveness.

Participating in the session were representatives of the Rail Baltica joint venture RB Rail AS Marko Kivila, Chairperson of the Management Board and CEO, and Ojārs Daugavietis, Member of the Management Board and CFO. They were invited to answer questions about Rail Baltica’s ongoing implementation across the Baltic states, providing updates on construction progress, coordination between national project promoters, and the status of financing and major upcoming milestones.

Estonia’s Minister of Infrastructure Kuldar LeisLatvia’s Minister of Transport Atis Švinka, and Lithuania’s Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas also met in Riga to discuss Rail Baltica and preparations for the EU’s next multiannual financial framework. They underscored the importance of continued Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding for Rail Baltica, noting positive signals from the European Commission, which has proposed nearly doubling the transport budget to €51.5 billion and recently identified Rail Baltica as a strategic link in Europe’s high-speed rail network.

Latvia, presiding over the Baltic Assembly this year, guided the session to a shared agreement on regional priorities for 2026. The Assembly also adopted a resolution condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and reaffirming support for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
