Rail Baltica contributes to the discussion on the future of European infrastructure at LTEF 2025 in Rome

Rome, 27 October 2025 – The Lyon–Turin Euroforum (LTEF 2025), held at the French Embassy in Palazzo Farnese, gathered policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to explore “Future Cornerstones – The Essential Conditions for the Next-Generation Infrastructure, from Design to Management.” 

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, TELT, the French-Italian public promoter of the cross-border section of the new Lyon–Turin railway, opened its annual forum to professionals, students, and researchers to discuss how Europe can design, manage, and sustain large-scale infrastructure that meets future needs. 

Rail Baltica at the heart of the governance debate 

Representing Rail Baltica, Marko Kivila, CEO of RB Rail AS, took part in the round table on “The Governance of International Infrastructures.” 

He shared insights on Rail Baltica’s governance model, highlighting the experience of managing one of Europe’s most ambitious cross-border megaprojects. 

Kivila emphasized the importance of disciplined governance, close cooperation between the Baltic states, and strong alignment with European standards and sustainability goals. He also underlined Rail Baltica’s integration within the TEN-T network and the project’s contribution to strengthening European connectivity. 

Collaboration and shared vision across borders 

The event gathered a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Martin Briens, French Ambassador in Italy; Daniel Bursaux, President of TELT; Professor Marc Lazar of Sciences Po and LUISS University; Jérôme Dezobry, Chairman of the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe; Manuela Rocca, Deputy General Director for Italy at TELT SAS; Lionel Gros, Deputy General Director for France at TELT SAS; and Maurizio Bufalini, CEO of TELT SAS. 

The discussions explored governance, sustainability, and innovation – underlining that the future of infrastructure lies in shared responsibility, ethical principles, and the creation of long-term value.

Rail Baltica’s participation at LTEF 2025 reaffirmed the project’s commitment to fostering European collaboration and sustainable development. 

Events like LTEF serve as vital platforms for exchanging ideas, strengthening cooperation, and shaping the next generation of transport infrastructure across Europe.
