The second detailed technical design tender for Rail Baltica railway track in Latvia announced

The joint venture of the three Baltic States RB RAIL AS has announced the next restricted competition, defining the advancement of the Rail Baltica Global project design phase in Latvia. Tender for “Design and design supervision services for the construction of the new line on the section Vangaži – Salaspils – Misa” that will cover 60 km of the railway line is procured in the interest of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Latvia. The submission deadline for the proposal is June 18, 2018.

“The new detailed technical design tender will cover 60 km of the railway line in Latvia from Vangaži to Ķivuļurga river and from Ķivuļurga river to Misa river through Salaspils. Construction of 10 bridges, including a bridge over Daugava river with projected length 1.6 km, 14 road viaducts, 15 railway viaducts, 4 eco-ducts, 45 culverts and 12 main gas-pipeline crossings is planned as a part of the design specification,” informed Mart Nielsen, RB RAIL AS Chief Technical Officer.

As with previous detailed technical design competitions, this also consists of two stages: (1) selection of candidates who will be invited to submit a proposal in the second stage of the Competition and (2) evaluation of the proposals submitted by candidates which were invited to submit a proposal and award of rights to conclude a contract. The candidates qualified in the first stage of the Competition will receive detailed information on the scope of the services to be procured.

The tender is subject to the development of Vangaži – Salaspils – Misa section design and provision of design supervision services for the construction of railway track substructure, superstructure, as well as related civil structures on the new standard gauge passenger/freight high-speed double track, electrified railway Rail Baltica line.
