Rail Baltica Presented to International Audience in Spain

In order to reach out to the most experienced industry representatives and invite them to bring their knowledge to the Rail Baltica Global project[1] implementation, the Chief Operating Officer and member of the board of RB RAIL AS Kaspars Rokens attended the 6th International Railway Convention in Valencia, Spain, presenting the project and meeting with the potential project suppliers eager to participate in the upcoming tenders.

The 6th International Railway Convention held on June 19-23 is organised by the Spanish Railway Association (Mafex). It is a meeting point for the Spanish railway industry and delegates of operating companies, infrastructure administrators, representatives of the main cities’ metro systems and railway service suppliers from five continents. Kaspars Rokens had been invited to present Rail Baltica project on the first day of the event alongside other significant projects currently implemented in Canada, United States and Egypt. K.Rokens introduced suppliers with general project information presenting project definition, technical parameters, timeline as well as information on project implementers. However, the main spotlight was given to the information on planned procurements – general procurement principles and standards, procurement plan, suppliers’ as well as contracting authorities’ code of conduct and suppliers’ minimum requirements.

“The conference has brought together delegates from 34 countries and all continents excluding Antarctica. Delegates journeyed the longest distances come from South Africa, Panama, Indonesia, Australia and Taiwan. The interest is very strong as well as the awareness and knowledge about the Rail Baltica project. Companies are interested in qualification criteria and in ways to better collaborate with local architecture, consultancy and construction businesses,” says K. Rokens.

On the second day of the event Kaspars Rokens met with various interested companies from across Europe – steel and mining company form Luxembourg “ArcelorMittal”, infrastructure, renewable energy and new technology company from Spain “Elecnor”, private engineering and technology group “Sener”, Spanish independent consulting company “Typsa”, railway system equipment and component supplier from Spain “CAF”, Spanish manufacturer of intercity, standard, and high speed passenger trains “Talgo”, global consulting and technology company “Indra”, and multinational consulting, engineering and architecture company “Idom”.
