The shareholders of RB RAIL AS – “Rail Baltic Estonia” OU, “Eiropas dzelzceļa līnijas” SIA and “Rail Baltica statyba” UAB – have approved a new Supervisory Board with the following members: Edvīns Bērziņš, Chairman of the Board of “Latvijas Dzelzceļš” VAS, Anti Moppel, Member of Supervisory Board of “Rail Baltic Estonia” OU, Karolis Sankovski, CEO of “Rail Baltica Statyba” UAB, Vineta Rudzīte, Deputy Legal Director on administrative issues and Head of Secretariat of Presidents’ Council of “Latvijas Dzelzceļš” VAS, Indrek Orav, CEO of “Rail Baltic Estonia” OU, and Arenijus Jackus, Director of Rail Baltica Coordination Department at “Lietuvos geležinkeliai” UAB.
The Lithuanian shareholder had decided to recall one of its representatives Steponas Šaltmeris and instead to appoint Arenijus Jackus at the Supervisory Board of RB RAIL AS. In such instance the whole Supervisory Board had to be recalled and a new one to be appointed.
The Supervisory Board appointed Edvīns Bērziņš to fill the duties of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of RB RAIL AS while Anti Moppel and Karolis Sankovski were approved to be the Vice-Chairmen of the Supervisory Board of RB RAIL AS.
The Supervisory Board is comprised of six members – two members nominated by each shareholder. The Board members are elected for the period of three years.
Arenijus Jackus background
Arenijus Jackus has obtained Master’s Degree in Transport Engineering Economics and Management at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
He is currently holding the position of Director of Rail Baltica Coordination Department in “Lietuvos geležinkeliai” UAB. He started working at the Ministry of Transport and Communications in 1997 and during his 14 years of service in the public sector he has had an opportunity to be involved within the Rail Baltica project implementation since its very beginning. He has previously held director position in various strategic departments at the Ministry of Transport and Communications responsible for strategic planning and finances, EU investment administration and project implementation as well as international relations and EU affairs. He has also been the Chairman of the Management Board of “Kaunas airport” SE, Member of Supervisory Board at “Lietuvos geležinkeliai” UAB, Member of the Management Boards of “Klaipėda State Seaport Authority” SE, “Oro navigacija” SE and “Rail Baltica statyba” UAB.
Likewise, he has worked as a Deputy Director at Central Financing and Contracting Unit, Deputy Head of Marketing Division at Lithuanian National Radio and Television, Assistant and Lector at several universities: Kaunas Technology University, Vilnius University and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
